Play Beat The Clock
Baby Boomers, I know some of you will remember one of the early TV game shows called Beat The Clock. It started in the 50s and was repackaged in various versions through the early 70s. It was one of my parents favorites. What I remember is it was people doing a lot of very silly things quickly.
When working with firm leaders, I often hear this statement in various formats, “We don’t have time to do that now, we’ll have to wait until after April 15th.” Many owners don’t realize the dissatisfaction that has been slowly building within their firms. My challenge to you today is to do a lot of very important things quickly.
Did you work on a new strategic plan this year? Did you revisit your already defined strategic plan and update it? Most partner groups actually do a good job of establishing strategic initiatives. Where it comes to a screeching halt is with implementation. Why? Because partners truly believe they don’t have enough time.
Many studies tell us that talented, knowledge workers are getting dissatisfied. You really do have time to take action this year. I know many of you are thinking, “we just have to get through October 15th.” Okay, do that and then play Beat the Clock and show your team that you are beginning to take action.
Scroll down, or click here and read the comments on my blog post from Monday. If you don’t begin making changes, keeping pace with technology and actively nurturing and guiding the next generation of CPAs, how will the future look for the current owners?
After October 15th you have 10 or 11 weeks to make some changes. Even the little things can make the biggest difference. Play Beat the Clock and get moving.
