Being Successful As A CPA Is Not Easy

Being successful in business is not easy.

I think we are finally evolving to where we can actually say to new college graduates, the top talent all firms want to hire, that if they want to have a successful, enjoyable, monetarily rewarding career IT TAKES HARD WORK.

I offer this paragraph from a Seth Godin blog post:

We used to live in an industrial age, a Smithian-Marxist world where the worker sought to do as little as possible and the boss tried to get the worker to do as much as possible. In our self-serve economy, though, that’s just not true. All sorts of roads, but you have to supply your own locomotion.

When you attend a conference or listen to a webinar are you thinking: “I’ll just watch and take notes.” or is your attitude: “I’m here to learn.”

Again from Godin: Learning is not watching a video, learning is taking action and seeing what happens.

As I continually suggest to you, CPA firm leaders, DO THINGS. Try things, test things and see if they work.

You can attend all of the high-profile CPA management conferences out there but do you just take notes and listen?
