Focus On Listening
“Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.” – Stephen R. Covey
This holiday season, you will be talking to a lot of people. You will be meeting and greeting in both your business and personal life.
Remember these quotes. The first one I read about in a novel. It was mentioned as a saying on the wall of the head of the Secret Service back in the 1960s.
I offer it today for you to keep in mind as you deal with clients, family, and your team:
“You ain’t learning nothing when you’re talking.”
I’m unsure if it is grammatically correct, but I think you get the message.
Here’s the other one from Agatha Christie in one of her novels:
“Speech is the deadliest of revealers.”
- "Great people talk about ideas, average people talk about themselves, and small people talk about others."
